Cricket weds Tennis! This one of its kind union of sports legends materialized yesterday at last, only three days before the planned wedding day. The entire last week was filled with bitter sweet news and mixed emotions where on one hand, media joyously announced the engagement of two sport stars of the sub-continent and on the other, regurgitated bouts of propaganda against the couple.
But then as they say, what’s meant to happen will happen, regardless of what one may do to avoid the ‘happening’. Hence, as planned the show did go on, the wedding bells did ring and the sports couple happily tied the knot.
On the union of Shoaib & Sania, Mobilink Jazz came up with a very interesting ad that congratulates the newly-wed couple and welcomes Sania Mirza in the family by saying ‘Ab Sania Mirza bhi Apni Hai’. Hats off to Jazz. It’s good to see that like our excited nation, our telcos are also warmly welcoming the newly married sports couple. Good luck to Shoaib & Sania and best wishes for a wonderful life ahead!
Shoaib again caught media attention for all the wrong reasons. Whether he was married to Ayesha Siddiqui or not is entirely his personal matter and we have nothing to do with it. However, after conceiving and planning ads in India, I think Mobilink should not have resorted to “Ab Sania bhi apni hai†as she has not applied for Pakistani passport so far and blatantly said she would play for India. Then how she is ‘Apni hai†is a question which should have been pondered by telecom giant before issuing such sweeping statements.
Mobilink has been doing such childish tricks in the past as well. The fact is that banking on celebrity’s popularity to grind one’s own axe is not a good omen for the corporate world. Sania does not intend to live in Pakistan. She will reside in Dubai, retain her Indian Passport, play for India and pray for the success of Indian cricket team. How come Mobilink know she is “apni haiâ€
you are quite right Faryal
