OnLive, cloud gaming service set for launch today

OnLive, a cloud gaming service, is set to launch today. The service will provide on-demand, instant-play video games for a small monthly fee. OnLive will be compatible with both Windows and operating systems.

In the press release CEO, Steve Perlman said, “This launch is just the beginning for the OnLive platform. We’ll be rolling out new features, capabilities and performance improvements, continually adding new along with the latest releases, and extending the service to more people. Today we’re taking the first step toward a future where video game is increasingly free from the restrictions of device and location, while showcasing the ability to instantly play the latest, most advanced games at the touch of a button.

OnLive has secured twenty-three games for the launch today, they include:

  • aaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! — A Reckless Disregard for Gravity
  • Assassin’s II
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Borderlands
  • Brain Challenge
  • Defense Grid: Gold
  • Dirt 2
  • Dragon Age: Origins
  • F.. 2: Project Origin
  • Just Cause 2
  • Lego : Years 1-4 Demo (Full version available 6/29)
  • Madballs in Babo: Invasion
  • Mass Effect 2
  • 2K10
  • NBA 2K10
  • Prince of Persia: The
  • Puzzle Chronicles
  • Red Faction Guerrilla
  • Shatter
  • ’s Splinter Cell: Conviction
  • Trine
  • Unreal Tournament III
  • World of Goo

They also announced a few games that will be coming soon, they include:

OnLive is also working on, what they call, a MicroConsole. The will allow you to play all of the on-demand games right on your TV.  It will support up to 4 wireless controller, multiple Bluetooth headsets, HDMI out, optical audio and USB support.
